Furniture Care

When you consider how much your new furniture does for your home,
it really requires very little care from you. Don't think that small scratches
and nicks as a result of normal use devalue your furniture. Actually even a
fine antique is expected to bear this characteristic evidence of time and use.
There are a few simple things you can do to ensure its long lasting beauty.
Please use the information we provide as a general guide to furniture care.

Wood Care

Allow 30 days for your product to cure. Avoid using materials that can scratch the surface of your
furniture until the varnish has fully cured, forming a hard, protective finish that's resistant to water and alcohol.

Use a damp cloth for normal cleaning. If additional polishing is required, avoid products with silicone,
wax, solvents or abrasives. Do not use any product more than four times a year. For best results, we
recommend Guardsman Polish With Sunscreen, You may purchase this from us. Use this product exclusively.
Combining care products is probably the most frequent cause of deteriorated finishes. You may also use a clean
damp cloth, wiping in the direction of the wood grain, finishing with a dry cloth. Wipe up any spills promptly.
While your finish may be spill-resistant, prolonged exposure to moisture will cause damage.

Avoid exposure to heat sources. Prolonged exposure to a direct heart source, such as a register,
can
cause cracking or warping. Objects left on top of your furniture in direct sunlight may also cause uneven
aging of the wood's surface. Do not place hot items like pots and pans on the surface without protection.

Maintain the level of relative humidity in your home around 35%. Low humidity may cause
your
furniture to dry or crack, while high levels can result in swelling or warping. Either way, restoring optimum
humidity levels will often correct the problem. Humidity gauges are available at most hardware stores
and provide an easy way to improve the comfort of your home and extend the life of your furniture.

Leather Care

Leather should be very durable with proper care and cleaning.
In addition to this guide, refer to more specific care instructions provided with your furniture.

Dry-cloth dusting and vacuuming regularly is necessary to care for your furniture.
The use of a good leather conditioner is recommended every 6-12 months.
Protect your furniture from sun and direct light.
Like most upholstery materials, leather will fade with continued exposure to sunlight.

Suggested Methods of Cleaning

Always try any cleaning method in a hidden area first to convince yourself of the results.
For minor spots and spills, wipe any excess liquid immediately with  a clean absorbent cloth or sponge
If necessary, use a lightly moistened soft cloth with clean lukewarm water and let dry naturally..
If water is used, clean the entire area where the spot occurred.
Do not use soap or soak the stain heavily with water, which will cause further damage..
If the stain persists, contact a professional leather specialist.
For butter, oil, or grease stains, wipe off excess with a clean dry cloth, and then leave alone.
The spot should dissipate into the leather after a short period of time.
For minor or slight scratches on the surface, use a chamois or clean fingers to gently buff the scratch.
If needed, moisten lightly with distilled water to work scratches out.

Remember leather is a natural product and requires some care to maintain the natural beauty of the hide.
Understand that imperfection in the hides is normal and part of the beauty of leather.
Do not use saddle soap, cleaning solvents, furniture polish, oils, varnish, abrasive cleaners, detergent soaps or ammonia water.
